For radiology groups.

Within the United States, lung nodule characterization is a reimbursable service under CPT 0721T and 0722T. It is billed separately from the CT interpretation. For a group reading chest CT at volume, that is a meaningful revenue line.

The two questions we get first.

“Does it work on every nodule type?” Our indication does not restrict by morphology. RevealAI-Lung is validated on solid, part-solid and pure ground-glass lung nodules, and where several are present, each is assessed independently — there is no cap on the number.

“Does it work on our acquisitions?” Validation spans low-dose CT, non-contrast and IV contrast-enhanced studies, across more than 19 convolution kernels and all four major CT manufacturers.

Indicated for incidentally-detected lung nodules 6–15 mm in patients 18 and over. Validated at slice spacing of 5 mm or less.

What you collect depends on the setting you bill in.

SettingWhat you billWhat comes to the group
POS 11 — freestanding imaging center, non-facilityThe global rateTechnical and professional components together, plus the professional fee for the interpretation
POS 22 — reading on hospital-owned equipmentProfessional component onlyThe interpretation alone. The technical component goes to the facility.

Because 0721T and 0722T are carrier-priced, there is no national rate for either setting — payment is set by your MAC and varies by locality. The gap between global and professional-only is substantial in every jurisdiction we have confirmed. We will give you the current position for your own locality rather than a national average. Reimbursement information above applies to product usage within the United States.

Two ways to bill.

0722T is used when characterization is performed together with a CT ordered at the same encounter. It is an add-on to that study. 0721T is used when the CT was acquired earlier and no new scan is ordered — the characterization is performed on the existing images and billed on its own.

Rates differ by MAC and by place of service, so there is no single national figure to quote. Billable, standardized, one click.

Billable

Characterization is reimbursed separately from the CT interpretation, once per patient per encounter and regardless of how many lung nodules are analyzed. Before these codes existed, assessing a lung nodule added additional unbillable work to the read. Every incidental 6–15 mm lung nodule on a chest CT is now a billable service.

Standardized

The mSI™ is computed from the image data, so the same lung nodule returns consistent scores whichever radiologist opens the study. Pixel values, resolution and slice depth are generalized before the features are measured, which holds the score steady across 19+ convolution kernels and all four major CT manufacturers.

Evidence

One click, or none

Inside your PACS viewer the radiologist marks the lung nodule and the mSI™ returns in seconds — no second application, no separate login. Where a detection tool is already running, the lung nodules it flags are characterized automatically and the results are pushed back to PACS with no click at all.
